Women in Flex London 2023
The Flexible Space Association hosted our third Women in Flex event yesterday, once again in partnership with technologywithin, and this time hosted by Huckletree White City, in West London.
The event brought together over 50 women from a wide range of flexible workspace businesses and roles to meet with each other, and hear from two panels. The Women in Flex events were designed in recognition that whilst there are many women working in the flexible workspace industry, all of the largest workspace operators have male CEOs, and our events encourage career progression within the sector.
The first panel was hosted by Sophie Turnbull of Huckletree, who spoke to Katrina Larkin of The Office Group, Morgan Pierstorff of NewFlex and Laura Walker from Orega.
They spoke about their career journeys to-date, having all come to the sector on different paths. Their advice included taking opportunities to learn new skills, particularly where there’s something new you woul like to do professionally. Volunteering for activities outside of your core role was suggested as a good way to meet a wider range of colleagues and gain experience.
Our second panel was hosted by Huckletree’s CEO Gabriela Hersham, who talked to Cassy Nichols of Pure Offices and Heather Murchie of Impact Working.
As well as their own career paths, they talked about the importance of balancing work and personal life, and taking time away from emails. The variety of the work within flexible workspaces was also discussed, and taking or looking for opportunities to continue to progress.
We finished with a reception to enable everyone to make new industry connections, as they carried on the discussions from the panels. You can find some photos from the event in our Flickr Events Album.
Last month we hosted an online Women in Flex event, to ensure everyone can learn from the career experiences of others, whether or not they can make an in-person event. If you missed it live, you can catch up with the recording.
