A Worldwide Debate – Flexible Workspace or Coworking?

The world of flexible workspace is a global industry, but as is so often the case even when English is a shared language it can be used as very different ways in different countries.

FlexSA’s Executive Director, Jane Sartin, has written for AllWork on the hotly debated (at least within our industry!) topic of whether flexible workspace or coworking should be used as an all encompassing word for serviced and managed offices, coworking/hot desk spaces and business centres.

It is said that the U.K. and the U.S. are “two countries divided by a common language.”

That can range from the frustration caused whenever the Wordle answer turns out to be a word with a distinctly American spelling (it’s spelt fibre, not fiber!), to the arguably more significant matter of nomenclature within the world of flexible workspace.

Jane goes onto address how flexible workspace and coworking space are used in different ways, the challenges this can cause (big and small), and whether or not it matters.
