2024 FlexSA Award Winners: Runway East Bloomsbury
Runway East were the winners of the Flexible Space Association’s Workspace Design Award for their project to transform a 45,000 sq ft self-contained building in Bloomsbury, London.
With ever-higher standards of design and a broader range of amenities in flexible workspaces, this was a category with many strong contenders for the award.
Runway East’s new building had been abandoned during the pandemic, but has now been transformed into modern flexible workspace. Their objective was to provide space, services and energy for their community of start-ups and SMEs. The renovation also sought to upgrade the sustainability rating of the building, creating a large and functional space that left as little environmental impact as possible.
Runway East Bloomsbury is now home to over 800 desks in 59 private offices, 37 meeting rooms, 12 phone booths, a multifunctional event space and ample communal space.
Oli Ring, Head of Marketing, who accepted the award last Thursday, commented: “We’re over the moon to have been awarded Best Workplace Design at this year’s FlexSA awards – it’s a testament to not only our Design & Expansion teams, but to the work that everyone at Runway East has done that has contributed to our growth over the years. Truly a team effort!”
