A Year of Flexible Workspace Visits
FlexSA’s Executive Director, Jane Sartin, has reflected on her many visits to flexible workspaces over the course of 2024.
Whilst most people have pictures of family and social activities dominating their phone’s gallery of photos, a substantial proportion of mine shows flexible workspaces.
It crossed my mind that I’ve visited quite a lot of them during the course of 2024, so I went through the exercise of doing a count up. The number reached 72, excluding subsequent visits to a handful I’ve visited more than once.
These visits have been for a variety of reasons. Flexible Space Association roundtable meetings and workspace tours, Board meetings, Virtual Office Forum meetings, ad hoc visits for a meeting or just taking an opportunity to visit a FlexSA member location.
Whilst outsiders from the world of the flexible workspace community might think one is much like another, from the experience of visiting so many I know that’s the far from the case.
Looking down the list I’ve made, I think I can remember something distinctive about every one of the 72 workspaces I have been in this year. Whether that’s design, amenities, the view from the windows, quirky phone booths or other features.
The beauty of flexible workspaces is that there really is something to suit everyone. The sector has grown, and that’s expanded the opportunity for individuals and businesses to find a professional space to work that suits their tastes, circumstances and business requirements.
What I’ve loved about the many visits I have made, either alone or with a group from FlexSA member companies, is how welcoming centre managers are, and how proud they are to show people around their workspace.
Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me during the course of 2024, and I look forward to visiting many more flexible workspaces next year.
