Women in Flex 2024

The Flexible Space Association hosted the latest in-person edition of the popular series of Women in Flex events in London, in partnership with technologywithin.

Women from all facets of the flex industry came together at the event hosted at Runway East’s Bloomsbury location for an afternoon of networking and insight, hearing experiences and advice from industry colleagues, followed by a practical workshop on effective use of social media for business.

This event was the fourth-in person event in the series, created in response to the recognition that whilst there are many women working in the flexible workspace industry, nearly all of the largest workspace operators have male CEOs. The event served to bring women at all levels together to network and encourage career progression in the sector.

Our first panel session was hosted by Natasha Guerra, CEO of Runway East. She was joined  by Myf Plunkett, Head of Sales and Marketing at LentaSpace, Suzanne Murdock, MD of The Hub Newry in Northern Ireland, and Lisa Cations,  Managing Director and Founder of JCR Advisors.

Conversation flowed, covering topics such as education versus experience, sharing personal career journeys and experiences, and juggling home and work to strike that elusive work-life balance.

Advice shared included curating and engaging with your wider support networks, stepping outside your own direct remit to engage with industry news, events and colleagues, and also touched on the positive impact of mentors and female role figures in shaping your career path.

The second session of the afternoon was an advice -packed presentation from Becs Bate, of Social Media Executive who shared useful tips and advice for making effective connections and impact on LinkedIn, which directly spoke to many in the audience who actively use the social platform for business.

Having previous experience of training companies within the flex sector, Becs shared great advice on sharpening the impact of your own personal profile, and ways to make lasting meaningful connections and keep yourself visible on the platform to connect with your community.

The event finished with a drinks reception allowing guests to network and continue the conversation, with some taking inspiration from the event to snap a group photo, and kick-start those LinkedIn connections.
